The world of movies have been greatly impacted in the last decade with the influx of big budget and highly publicized motion pictures that originated from or were/are inspired by action figures and comic books and related themes and genre.

Since 1998 the public has seen several X-Men films (with more on the way), 3 Star Wars films (with many more to come), a few Star Trek films, multiple Spider-Man films (with an updated incarnation having debuted in 2012 and a sequel coming in 2014 and beyond), 3 Matrix films, 3 Lord of the Rings films with the Hobbit series starting in 2012 and continuing in 2013 and 2014, 3 Transformers films (additional films in the planning stages), 3 Batman films (more will follow), 2 Fantastic Four films (more being planned), 2 Hulk films, 3 Iron Man films (more than likely a fourth), 2 Alien and Predator films and 1 Predators movie, 2 Punisher films, 2 Hellboy films (with others speculated), 1 Avatar film (more to come possibly in 2015 and 2016), 1 Captain America movie (sequel in 2014), 1 Thor movie (sequel in 2013), 2 Superman movies (with the Man of Steel series hopefully continuing from its 2013 blockbuster), 1 Green Lantern movie, 1 Green Hornet movie, 1 Daredevil movie (more being planned), 1 Elektra movie, 1 Indiana Jones movie, 2 GI Joe movies, 1 Watchmen movie, 1 Conan movie (rumored to return with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role again), 1 Spirit movie, 1 Kick-Ass movie (sequel in 2013), 1 300 movie (sequel in 2014), 1 Sin City movie and 2 Planet of the Apes movies (sequel in 2014) and of course the top grossing comic book movie of all-time the Avengers in 2012 with a sequel in 2015.

There'll be more films on the way with original incarnations from the comics and action figures as well as continued re-launches of previous and current franchise series.

This doesnít cover every action figure and comic book and theme related movie that has come out since that year, but gives you an idea on the volume of films that Hollywood produced and continues to tap into for additional future projects.  The growing fan base is clamoring for even more that what has been produced.

These films combined have netted billions and billions of dollars at the box office both nationally and internationally and even more in licensing and merchandising - action figures and comic books and many, many other collectible items and non-collectible items.

There are quite a few films that preceded 1998 such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Star Trek the Motion Picture, Star Trek II, III, IV, V, VI, Star Trek Generations, Star Trek First Contact, Superman the Movie, Superman II, III and IV, Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Dick Tracy, The Shadow, The Masters of the Universe, Supergirl, Terminator, Terminator 2 to name a few.

There were many animated movies that were made directly for the video and DVD marketplace that also originated from our favorite subject matter such as Ultimate Avengers, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Planet Hulk, Superman Doomsday, Batman Gotham Knights, Justice League New Frontier, Green Lantern First Flight, Superman Batman Public Enemies and many others.

There are still dozens and dozens in the concept and development stages - the re-launch of the Fantastic Four, possible re-launch of Daredevil, sequels to many of the Marvel Studios film properties and confirmed developments of Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Marvel continues to look at all of their characters to see if any can be turned into future films and DC Entertainment are always evaluating their over 75 year history of comic icons to see which is worthy of a major motion picture.

This is great for us action figure and comic book collectors to be able to see our favorite characters turned into live action and animated movies.  Great products are introduced to us based on the movies with a brand new look and feel than their original interpretations bringing a wonderful pizzazz and excitement to our great hobbies.

I have created a few pages on my site separating into different categories including DC Comic movies and DC animated movies, Marvel Comic movies and Marvel Animated movies where you can read about the most popular motion pictures as well as some of the smaller films that have come to life and have had a direct impact on the action figure and comic book hobbies.

Science Fiction movies, Science Fiction animated movies, Fantasy and other theme-related movies and Fantasy and other theme-related animated movies which I will try and develop and add to my site will also provide informative summaries for those genres.

Youíll see news about new films that have either been announced or tentatively will be produced someday into future movies on those pages above and or on my home page.

It's a wonderful time for all of us fans who have followed these great characters and their stories and to see them come to life on the big screen and in other forms of media like Blu-Ray and DVD and online making them so accessible for everyone.

Our dreams have become reality in many instances and more are on the way.

Happy Collecting!!!
